a word of advice about caves: once i went rafting through an underground river cave in belize. there were some wildish dogs who lived down there. the image of my flashlight reflecting off the eyes of some half crazed dog paddling at me out of the dark is seared into my brain. plus i had just eaten some mystery jungle plant that our guide had handed me and thought I might be hallucinating. but anyway it turned out I wasn't.
